My 1st journey as a Capoeirista

Who have heard of Capoeira?? Well not many know bout this super awesome martial arts. It's not the main topic to be talked about when the word 'martial arts' is discussed. Mostly people are more exposed to Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Karate, Yoga (not a martial art,i knw that) and so on.

CDO

Well for me, I've heard of it since I was young (due to the Tekken game that I was forced to play with my elder brother. He often chooses 'Eddy Gordo'-(the Capoeira guy). U know, the cool guy with the green and yellow shirt representing Brazil; as well as his braided hair. *Drools*

Eddy Gordo from Tekken

Ok, now for those who are unsure of Capoeira, you can all google it. Haahaha...I'm not gonna explain bout it coz it'll take forever plus typing is kind of tiring for me. Hee.

I started to deeply involved in this stylish art of defense after joining Fizi's Capoeira's class in Muayfit, PJ. Honestly, I should admit, It is NOT so easy at first. It requires you to be very, and i mean VERY flexible! The first few weeks were pretty tough with the body ache and all. Then I started to grow fond of it and I just can't wait for Thursday to come as I would have my training on that day! weeee...!

I was then invited (thanks to Fizi, Shauq and Zul..woohoo!) to a Capoeira workshop organized by IIUM students.

It was a 3 days event in Pengkalan Balak, Melaka. Our days were pack with training, song practice as well as group practice (we need to do a group presentation on our last day). Over all it was a fun filled event and I am totally looking forward for more!! AXE!

Food Foundry

Just like the title, i'm gonna blog 'bout a solitary place somewhere in section 17, PJ. You will not be able to find this place like how we look for KFC, McDonalds and so on. It is located nearby few old apartments and other shops. This corner lot shop is famously known for its dainty, heavenly, mouthwatering crepes......*im drooling just talking about it*.

the hip menu..environmental friendly n cost saving

the interior are all hand drawn; not the stickers most of the place uses nowadays

chocolate crepe

My all time fav! vanilla crepe! yum!

strawberry crepe

Durian...yes, durian crepe

i wonder if the tea spoon was designed in dat way or they bent it?

Apart from the crepes, they offer other dishes as well such as steak, fish and chips, spaghetti and other Western cuisine. Price? Well, think of Chilis and TGI Fridays. Not so cheap but they offer HUGE potion.

Price for crepe: RM9 per slice and you can even 'tapau' it back home and they'll put the tasty crepe in a cute recyclable box.GO GREEN people!

ASTRO Fest 2012

Who has complains on Astro's services?? angkat tangaaan! haha....I know, I know. A lot of people have abundant of complains on this broadcast network.

But I'm not writing this blog to charge a complain or whatsoever. I'm blogging to tell about an event that had happened recently at their well known centre located at Bukit Jalil. It is called Astro Fest which is done to appreciate their staffs and families *i think*. I heard that it had been done once a year as a tradition or some sort like a family day la. Since my bf works there, I had the chance to join in the fun.

We (my bf invited his two pals; Koji & Zarul as well) arrived at about 5-ish pm just to avoid the traffic and to get a better, nearer parking. Once at the entrance, my bf received a door gift (only for staffs..*daym) which were a thumbdrive and an umbrella (I didn't manage to snap he pics of it).

Here's the entrance!
The place was well organized as the entertainment and fun were equally divided for adults and children. There was a huge gazebo placing quite a number of seating and sofa for people to enjoy foot reflexology massage. Not forgetting few TV playing Astro's channel (duh!). After an ice-cream break, we started to queue up at the game booth. There were at least 30 game booths altogether like the one you see in Malaysian' fun fairs for us to ambush! I was not really in much luck compared to the other three who won a number of vouchers that they later on redeemed to get keropok Corntos..bwaahaha!

Free ice-cream!
urut kaki anyone?

I tried this for more than 5x; yet I failed

proud to win~

I am never good at bowling

yeah...this was the only game that I was confident of to win. And I did! yay!

I wish my nephew was here to enjoy this

Old skool....cotton candy..yum!

Well, the fun continues after a short pour of rain where we watch the band boys from VI (Victoria Institution, KL) playing the song Hawaii 5-o and Jai Ho repetitiously. I had this 'thing' with anyone that can play instruments; so I stood very near to them, mesmerizing their every move *ok, now I sound like a pervert*. Oh, after the band had stopped playing, there was a lion dance show and there were 4 lions altogether, flipping and hopping and jumping and running and flirting (yes, flirting with the other lion coz there's male and female). I then realized that I had actually lost the guys!! *due to following the band and lion dance* luckily I found them at one of the game booths. Oh, did I mention that everything in the fest were FOC?? Yes, FOC! wooohoo!!

VI boy band

These two lions are about to kiss...literally!

Excited face~

After an incredible show of fireworks, there was a match between my team (Liverpool) and the guys (Man Utd).*There's no need for me to put the result here* therefore we took a bamboo mat that was provided for us and just picnicked in front of the big screen to watch the match; together with some durians and ABC and satay...awesome!

A picnic while watching the game~

Yum!

I won an Adidas soccer ball from Natalie (Hitz.fm) when I answered a question prompted by her.

Yay! It was a great day indeed!

1N1 Personal Fitness Studio

After reading my previous blog (Mee Udang Mak Jah), I felt more calories and fats built up in me; causing my tummy to bloat even more *sigh*...and so I made the toughest, most unimaginable thing which never ever crossed my mind.......which is to join the gym! And to prove that I am serious about getting rid of this blubber, I chose to sign up for a 1 on 1 personal trainer!! My buddy, Lydia had warned me that having a personal trainer is going to be tough as they will push you as much as they can...I know...WTF (where's the frog?) right??

This is the entrance to the Fitness Studio in Mid Valley

Actually I saw this deal on Groupon - for 5 sessions (I love buying stuff on Groupon!) and I thought that they gave a good deal and it's the right time for me to try out this shit...hahah...mind my language...therefore I bought 2...2 vouchers as I needed to drag my bf as well *I would not want to go through all the pain on my own right?* like what we always heard..

"....To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health, to love and to cherish 'till death do us part...."
And so, we went for our first training. I admit that I was kind of nervous, especially when I saw those people with huge muscular body all around the studio. But my trainer, "Kid" is quite gentle on me...the first 10 minutes that is.

I was pushed to do cycling(15mins non stop), squats(the worst!), rowing machine(I was able to do this!) and push ups (a failure-I can't even stay up to 4 sec!). At the end of the day, my whole body was aching and shaky and it was only for 1 hour! I thought it had been the whole afternoon 3 hours!!

The locker in the Ladies Changing room.

Clean, powerful shower to refresh our body from all the workouts done

The next day was much interesting, my trainer promised to let me try Muay Thai (The art of Self Defense which is famous in Thailand). I personally love to try kickboxing, but Kid said that Muay Thai is more interesting as its more of a fighter than  a coward defender. Thus I was geared up with the red cloth wrapped all around my fingers and wrists to avoid injuries. I was pretty excited as I look quite cool *cough* until he asked me to do a warm up...which was to skip using a basic skipping rope...for 400x!!! I tripped and whined and screamed throughout the whole process..it took me forever to complete it! When it was over, I was drenched!

This was how my trainer wrapped my hand to avoid injuries. I don't wanna end up with a broken fingers.

The end result. Pretty cool huh?

4oo rounds of skipping! Torture! (Photo from net)

But then came the exciting part. I was geared up with the 'macho' boxing gloves and he taught me the basic movement of standing, walking, jabbing, punching and proper postures in a boxing ring---Muay Thai way!

My gloves!

The Boxing Ring. Care for a battle anyone?

It was fun super tiring and at the end of the session, my knuckles were sore and red! It hurts badly but I really enjoyed it and decided to enroll for a Muay Thai class. Yay!

Mee Udang Mak Jah

Are you a lover of prawns? Well, if you are, do continue reading coz i'll take you to a place where prawn lovers called it "heaven". My sister and brother in-law has promised to 'belanja' me and my bf this mee udang and my Auntie Saba tagged along. She loves tagging along. Heheh. So last Sunday, we went to this place. Its a typical corner lot restaurant somewhere around Wangsa Walk called "Mee Udang Mak Jah".

As all of us are crazy for prawns, we ordered everything 'special' as they will put EXTRA prawns. Don't mind the price (RM12) as the prawns are all ENORMOUS and FRESH!! I decided to order "Mee Goreng Udang Special" instead of the famous Mee Udang as My Sis, Aunt and bf chose to order that.

I know...its against the law to have our picture taken with the rival (Man Utd)...but food brings us together I guess...hahah

And when the dishes arrived........everyone started to make the "oooh...aaahhh...look at this!" sounds and quickly whipped out our cameras and took different angels of the dishes..hahha...famous prawns.
The prawns are all super fresh and crunchy and they are not stingy at all...in fact, there were more prawns that the mee itself!

Look at thaaaaatt size of prawns!!

Finally, with my left and right fingers smudged with the prawn's sauce, I quietly made a note to myself that I will Most Definitely come again!

Okay...we're super full...just look at the amount of prawns we ate...there goes our cholesterol!

 The result

P/S: I heard that the shop closed every Wednesday and whenever they failed to get good, fresh prawns. Yay!
